Kyanite Spring Newsletter

Explore our process, meet Raymond, and find us on the road!

HOW IT’S MADE

This winter, we launched a three-part series, exploring how we produce the industrial-grade Virginia Kyanite we proudly distribute to customers worldwide. Spanning one to two months,  this rigorous process requires over twenty-five beneficiation steps, tens of tons of heavy-duty machinery, an exceptional team, and an unwavering commitment to quality control.

In PART 1, we introduced our source mines at Willis Mountain and East Ridge in Dillwyn, Virginia, and the process of mining these world-class ore bodies to extract the raw kyanite. If you missed it, catch up here »

Next, in Part 2, we explored our beneficiation process, detailing the mined ore’s journey from wet separation (“the float”) to dry separation (“the dryer”), and then to the (“magnet house”) for final impurity removal. Find out more »

In Part 3, we concluded with milling, sizing, and bagging our finished products—Virginia Kyanite (and Mullite)—for distribution. Dig into PART 3 here »
